Teddi & Keith in Lafayette, CO

Teddi & Keith in Lafayette, CO
Though it was six years in the making, Teddi and Keith pulled off a warm wedding filled with personalized details and unique blessings in Lafayette, Colorado.

Location: Lionsgate Center, Lafayette
Teddi and Keith cut a three-tier cake iced in pale peach and decorated with green frosting “stems” topped off with real flowers and handmade butterflies. The newlyweds kicked off the night by cutting the cake before the dancing started. “We figured that since we spent so much time deciding on the design, we didn’t want it shoved off into a corner,” Teddi says.
Teddi’s four bridesmaids each wore different but similar dresses from David’s Bridal. Two of Teddi’s close friends wore floor-length celadon dresses with rum-color sashes. Keith’s sister donned a mock two-piece, floor-length gown in celadon, and Teddi’s sister sported a strapless floor-length dress in peridot with a celadon inlay.
Teddi wore a custom-designed two-piece veil. The top layer was a short blusher, which she wore as a veil for the reception. The bottom layer was cathedral length and featured the couple’s monogram along with a few butterflies (one in blue, for her “something blue”) near the hem. “A custom-designed veil was a big splurge for me, but I loved it!” the bride says.
Teddi and Keith wed in an outdoor, sunset ceremony at The Gatehouse at Lionsgate Center. The couple personalized their ceremony by adding unique blessings, including a rock ceremony (where their fathers dropped river rocks into a large vase as their officiant read the names of loved ones who had passed away), a hand washing ceremony (where the couple’s mothers poured water over their clasped hands and into the vase with the rocks), and a unity ceremony with bamboo stalks (where each of the attendants placed a stalk of bamboo into the vase, ending with two stalks that formed a heart at the center).
Teddi first met Keith when she flew to Colorado from New Jersey to interview for a photography internship. Keith was one of the employees who gave her a tour of the company, and that night he and a group of coworkers took Teddi out. Teddi was instantly enamored --“I actually took photographs of everyone who came out just so I could have a photo of Keith,” she remembers. Luckily, Teddi got the job, so she and Keith were soon seeing more of one another. Eventually, Teddi asked Keith out on a date, but he played hard to get. He told her he’d like to but that he had to do his laundry; but Teddi wouldn’t take no for an answer, and the two soon had their first date -- dinner at an Italian restaurant while Keith’s clothes were in Teddi’s washing machine. Her persistence paid off, and the two stayed together even after Teddi moved back to New Jersey.

The Date August 7

After three years of long-distance dating, she moved out to Colorado, and it was nearly three years later that Keith planned a sweet proposal at home.
